My boys are all boy! It’s all superheroes, sports, wrestling, and getting dirty! They have never cared much for princesses. In fact, most days, if you ask them to watch a princess movie, they’ll act as if you’ve infected them with some flesh-eating disease. That’s why, on our first trip to Disney as a family of 4, I didn’t bother to book any princess experiences! As much as I love them, I didn’t want to waste the time in Disney doing something they would moan and complain about.
That mentality changed when we stumbled into Enchanted Tales with Bell! We were towards the end of our trip, and it had been one of those scorching hot Florida days with 100% humidity! My husband was miserable! He hates being out when it’s that hot and humid, and he had about all he could take of both his mother and me (note to self, reserve trips over 7 days to just the 4 of us).
We were at that awkward point where we didn’t have a lot of time before our dinner reservation at Be Our Guest, certainly not enough to go get in a long line, and the only available fast passes were on the other side of the park. Then I noticed on the My Disney Experience App that, in the sea of 45 min + wait times, there was only a 5-minute wait at Enchanted Tales with Belle. It was either sit around in front of the restaurant with my sweaty husband and grumpy, hungry family or drag the boys into a princess experience and listen to them gripe about that. At least the princess had air conditioning!
The theming of Enchanting Tales is spot on! We were immediately captivated by the details! We walked down a path to Maurice’s cottage and workshop where there was a beautiful fireplace, Maurice’s desk & latest inventions, some of Belle’s books and a large mirror that we found out was a gift from the Beast! The mirror allows Maurice to visit Belle whenever he wants, and just like that the mirror begins to get bigger and bigger until it’s a doorway into the Beast’s Castle! I looked over and could see little eyes getting wide with wonder. Yes! They were getting into it!
As we passed through the mirror we found ourselves in a room with Madame Wardrobe & Lumiere and they were talking to us! They were planning a surprise for Belle! A reenactment of the night she and the Beast fell in love, and we were just in time to help! I glanced around at my family. The boys were totally loving the talking characters, and Matt was very excited for the bench to sit on!
Madame Wardrobe and her helpers pick the actors for the play. I watched as they went around the room for roles like guards, Chip, the Footstool, and even the Dishes! Then a Cast Member came by and selected Landry to be the Beast! Now, this spoke right to the soul of my little boy who loves to be in character! Yall, he was stoked! Luke was offered the role of Chip but shyness came over and he opted to sit with Mama!
When Belle came in, everyone was so excited, especially Landry! They retold the story of Beauty and the Beast with each child having their little lines! When the Beast found Maurice in his castle Landry roared his fiercest ROAR!
The end of the story brings the magic moment of the dance between Beauty and the Beast! Yall…it was adorable! Landry took it so seriously!
Disney Memory Maker Photographers are on hand during the story to help capture incredible pictures that you will treasure for many years to come! Since our seats were a few rows back and off to the side, I was again so happy we went ahead and paid for the Memory Maker package! It really is money well spent!
Everyone came out of Enchanted Tales with Belle with nothing but smiles on their faces! It was such a sweet experience, beautiful story, amazing touches throughout, and the perfect break from the hustle and bustle of the park! I promise you, Boy Moms, your boys will LOVE this experience. We loved it so much, we went back on our next visit, and guess what? Landry was selected to be the Beast a second time!
And on the next trip, there was no fighting visiting the Princesses! They enjoyed every princess visit we had, as long as they were in character for those too! Haha!
